La fiche Wikipédia, tout en écrivant "Bethmale (en occitan Vathmala)", donne par la suite une étymologie du nom contradictoire et probablement fausse !
Nouveaux noms de voies dans les deux bourgs de la commune, Samortein et Ayet :
Le nom générique de "Carrè" (Carrèr en alibertin) a été souvent choisi et certifié à la BAN, ce qui vient sans doute d’un désir de continuer la tradition. Par contre, la partie variable de ces noms de carrè est souvent totalement en français : carrè du lavoir, carrè de l’école... il y a comme une incohérence...
